After graduating from Bath Spa University in 2009 with a degree in 3D Design: Ceramics I was approached by the British Crafts Council & awarded a place on their prestigious HotHouse initiative; a 6-month mentoring programme for selected artists. I then worked for over a decade as a ceramicist with work exhibited in London, New York & Geneva.
In 2020 I took the decision to return to my first love as an assemblage artist; working with paper & found objects.
‘Every passion borders on the chaotic, but the collectors passion borders on the chaos of memories’. Walter Benjamin
My work has been described as ‘Lewis Carroll meets Jules Verne’ a love of Victorian nonsense, fairy tales & theatre combined with a life spent exercising a vivid imagination encourages the particularly British peculiarity of my work.
My cards & prints are assembled by layering images, textiles, wallpapers & paper ephemera into a digital collage.
Each image I create is a spontaneous response to the ‘chaotic narrative of memories’ & the reworking of this narrative into a visual feast for the eyes & soul.
My greetings cards are sumptuous digital collages from my large collection of Vintage paper scraps, photographs, postcards, wallpapers & textiles.
