Description

It appears to be made from pine but in very poor condition so I have painted and varnished the outside. The lid has an inner lip made from some sort of hardwood to prevent dust ingress. So well thought out!

The inside is unpainted and there is a “candle shelf/box” on the left-hand side with a secret drawer underneath, both made from the same hardwood as the inner lip. There is no key.

The blue chalk paint is incredibly hard to photograph but it’s best seen in the detail of the runners on the bottom (reminiscent of those runners you get on steamer trunks, complete with rounded ends so that they can be pushed and pulled on and off steamers, coaches and the like).

Measurements:
Width: 93.5cm at the widest
Depth: 48.5cm at the deepest
Height: 48.5cm at the highest (including the runners which are roughly 1cm deep)

Collection Only: my furniture is for collection from the Scottish Borders, an hour south of Edinburgh; but I am happy to work with your own courier (www.shiply.com is a great resource for finding couriers versed in transporting valuable furniture) if you cannot make it yourself.

I, Stefanie, was born in Germany, grew up in South India on an environmental rehabilitation project, and now live in the Scottish Borders with my family.

I am greatly motivated by nature and the continuity principle and, thus, I enjoy working with the raw material, following through from beginning to finished piece- shaping and transforming materials to give them new life and purpose. To me respect and an understanding for the materials and their original creators are essential to avoid compromising the materials’ own qualities.

Colour also play a key role with earthy tones and bright jewel-like colours evoking memories of my childhood spent in the splendour of India. With a keen interest in aesthetics and functionality with my materials sources in a sustainable manner, I create exclusive one-off pieces of “practical” textile art and furniture which aim to enhance life.

To me the purpose of an item is its most fundamental quality. Combine this with aesthetically pleasing design, and you have my idea of perfection.

To this end I launched Annasach in 1998, producing environmentally friendly interior accessories ranging from 100% recycled wool knit cushions and throws to furniture made from wind-felled wood. I also continue to offer my services as a designer through Von Damm Designs, working with a number of clients ranging from high street stores to museums and councils alongside my private clients.

Shipping Policy

Post-able items will be carefully packaged with recycled packaging as part of my ethos to reuse and recycle wherever possible. It may not look pretty, but it does the job well. I generally use Royal Mail's Tracked 48 within the UK and charge only what Royal Mail, themselves, charge. Note that I am happy to post outwith the UK (please contact me for an up-to-date postage fee to your country), but am not responsible for any custom charges which might be incurred.

My larger non-post-able items such as large canvases and furniture would need to be collected, either in person or by a courier of your choice. If you are getting a courier to collect, make sure that they are versed in handling antiques and art, as not all couriers are equal and the furniture will not be packaged (I do, however, wrap the large non-post-able canvases) for them.
