Description
This is is a beautiful, lightweight handknit and beaded shawl, modelled here by my fabulous assistant Drusilla. It is perfect for any formal occasion this summer.
It took many hours of work to create this shawl. The fine New Zealand Haunui Halfbred wool was first hand dyed in a gradient from grey, through blues, purples and finally reds. I then hand spun it into two singles yarns which I plied to create a two-ply yarn. I knitted this into a shallow lace-patterned shawl, with over 800 stitches in the final rows.
The beads were added to the shawl as I knitted, there are around 500 on this shawl. The beads are the best quality Japanese Toho glass beads, in metallic silver, blue and red.
This shawl is absolutely unique and will never be recreated, just like you!
