Materials or Groceries??

It’s a question plenty of creatives have had to ask in recent years.
Ultimately it’s the reason for NOT ON AMAZON existing at all. The Facebook group was set up during the pandemic lockdowns as a place where people could sell their work and for a lot of them it turned out to be the thing that saved them from having to ask that question.

If artists are unable to experiment and try new things they run the risk of ending up in a creative cul-de-sac, this is often when they throw in the towel and go looking for a 9-5. That Is the one thing that we at NOT ON AMAZON do not want to see – the financial constraints of living under systems of corporate control winning over individual freedom and reducing people’s life choices to zero.
Even if things are ticking over nicely and you’re making regular money, the decision to take a punt and put money and time into a new idea can be a tough one, often a step too far when your margins are tight and the cost of living gets higher by the day.

The NOT ON AMAZON Room to Grow Programme is intended to do exactly what it says on the tin, give our beneficiaries room to grow in their creative practice; The opportunity to experiment and explore new ways of expressing ideas.

We’re delighted to announce that we have chosen two projects from the submitted applications for our current round of funding!

We’re in the process of finalising with the lucky beneficiaries and as soon as this is done we’ll be able to share details of their projects.
Everyone who pulled together to make this possible has shown once again that the NOT ON AMAZON community is a true force for social change.
