Description

This is is a beautiful, lightweight handknit scarf, modelled here by my fabulous reclaimed mannequin Drusilla. It is perfect for most occasions.

It took many hours of work to create this scarf. It is made from a blend of commercially dyed black merino wool, pink, blue and purple silk and silver angelina sparkle fibre, which was spun into two extremely fine single ply yarns which were then plied together.

It was knitted up incorporating a length of one of my handspun coiled and bobbled art yarns made from merino wool, bamboo viscose and sugar plum coloured angelina sparkles. This yarn gives a focal point and contrast at the ends of the scarf, which flare out.

It is very long and is shown folded in half lengthways, then wrapped fully around the neck twice with the ends tucked through the loop.

This scarf is absolutely unique and will never be recreated, just like you!

Measurements:
Length from tip to tip – approx. 3 metres
Width in middle 15cm – approx. 65cm
Width at ends – approx. 30cm
Weight – approx. 135g

Wharfedale Woolworks began in 2010, when I took redundancy from ma dull office job and opened an online shop, originally offering hand-dyed yarns and fibres. After completing a Masters degree and taking on a new job I no longer had time to dye on a regular basis, so took a break for a couple of years. This year, after reducing working hours for a better work-life balance I am now re-opening and offering hand dyed yarns, handspun art yarns, prepared fibres in different formats for spinning and also some luxury hand knits and woven textile wall hangings.

I am autistic and suffer from fibromyalgia and depression.  I’m also awaiting assessment for ADHD, so all of my fibre related activities are highly therapeutic and restorative. I take great pride in my work and I value my time, so items are priced to account fairly for this. I hope you gain as much enjoyment from my products as I did from their creation.
