Description

The wording on the wooden base states “the dog training wasn’t going to plan”
I think pretty much everyone who’s had a dog has felt like this at point – my dog is really good on lead…until she sees a cat..
The lead is a piece of fence post wire and so the person at the end of the lead can, with a gentle push, sway slightly as though they really are flying through the air.
Like all my pieces this is created from found bits and pieces that would otherwise have gone to landfill. The inspiration came when my neighbour left some fence post wire out for the scrap man and I decided to try and create 3 dimensional caricatures. (they are made of a wire armature)
The flowers are made from old buttons, the wording is hammered into an old drinks can and the stile is created from off cuts of wood that would have otherwise have got swept into a pile and would possibly have been used for kindling.
Created from a combination of hand and machine stitch, each one takes hours to create and none will ever be exactly the same.
Approx 27cm in height. The walker extends over the base making the longest point approx 28cm and the widest 9.5cm
This design is also available as a greeting card

Additional information

Weight 0.9 kg
Dimensions 28 × 9.5 × 27 cm

The inspiration for my little people came about when my neighbour left some fence post wire out for the scrap man and I decided to see if I could use it to work 3 dimensionally. (Until that point I’d created pictures from old maps, vintage bus tickets, tax discs etc)

My work is a combination of hand and machine stitch and wherever possible I work on my 1930s sewing machine “Pearl” (she’s a singer)
