Amazing Mexican Bird Fiesta design panel on sumptuous velvet touch fabric.
It is a digitally printed cross-stitch design with many uses in crafting and sewing.
Beautiful for a living room, bedroom, hallway, art studio. It would be stunning made as a cushion in a conservatory.

This vibrant design is inspired by the beautiful Mexican folk art embroidery called Otomi. Traditionally used to decorate clothing and household linens, it includes stylised animals, flowers and birds. Patterned in waved stripes using bright, often contrasting colours, these folk art designs are simple but effective.
The design uses all of the field, with tiny shapes and flowers.
The embroiderer first hand draws the pattern with a crayon or pencil, and designs can be symmetrical for clothing. Each piece is unique. Embroidery commences in satin stitch using a tambour needle, which catches the stitches from the reverse and pulls through to the front. This is a quick way of filling large areas.
My design features a brilliant bird, richly detailed pattern in vibrant colours on a black background. The background is completely filled with flowers, butterflies, sacred hearts, a snail, dots and spots. A scattering of roccaille beads is added last for extra sparkle .
The design is framed by a richly coloured geometric border, which highlights the individual jewel colours of each feather.

I’m hugely motivated by colour, it’s exhilarating and weirdly calming. I love chopping and stitching, the more details the better. So any form of Needlework is perfect Everything has to be fitted in around my five boys, we live in rural Scotland, so it’s miles to everything. Online shops and selling from my studio shop in Peebles is vital. I have spent time teaching Needlework at local schools and realise how much kids need to craft. You should see the smiles when they realise that they can do it! I have a range of small kits specifically designed for children and beginners, the are already in velvet gift bags. Perfect for kid’s party gifts.
People say I must be a patient person but actually I am very busy and get bored easily. My Needlework Collection is really a product of this, I was uninspired by available tapestry and embroidery and started to create by own. My range of tapestry kits, Animal Fayre Designer Tapestry Kits Collection was launched in 2001 at the British Craft Trade Fair and I have never looked back!
